Tre Pani - DOVER HEIGHTS

P. came accross this bakery during a bike ride and so we decided to check it out on the weekend. A great idea we had, the croissants were so good, we totally forgot to take pics. So we had to go back the following weekend...life can be tough...

Tre Pani is lovely bakery not far in the Dover Heights and worth checking out if you're in the area.

Outside: nice golden look. The top is even crusty on the first bite, love it!

Inside: Super fluffy! And this one is ticking the most critical part: I can taste the butter, it's so yummy -my favourite croissant in Sydney by far :)

Score: 9/10
(doesn't get a 10 only due to its size...it could be a little bigger)

La Banette - AVALON

La Banette, a modest bakery we dropped into at Avalon on the way back to Sydney, was closing down for the day. We ordered 2 croissants and a baguette...

First look: there aren't 2 croissants in the bag but...5! The baker didn't want to waste them and decided to be generous, awesome news! These are beautifully golden and good size.

First bite: although these were bought at the end of the day, and were not supposed to be fresh anymore, it did not affect the taste. Very nice buttery croissant, the glaze was perhaps slightly too sweet.

Inside: nice and fluffy the way we like it. It could have been more fluffy but it might have been due to ordering so late in the day.

Biting into these croissants overlooking Avalon Beach as the sun sets was a fantastic way to end the weekend. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the Northern Beaches area.

Le Paris-Go Cafe - BONDI BEACH

Le Paris-Go CAFE is located in Hall Street, Bondi Beach

You'll find a croissant w/ jam on the menu at $5.50, for that price it better be good! So we ordered a plain croissant: not toasted, no butter, no jam please... just plain. We asked if the croissant was freshly made this morning, the answer is yes. Exciting!
Let's see what it tastes like...

First look: served at temperature on a plate with extra butter ! Good size croissant looking golden-ish, which suggests might be baked to perfection... I can't wait to give it a bite!

First bite: too sweet! It tastes like sugar...and clearly it is not fresh! The golden colour was only a lure, it has a texture of plastic on the outside,
mmh reminding me of those Woolworths croissants, or the Carrefour ones...pity.

Inside: too airy! so many holes, where is the pastry, and the layers and the fluffy appearance?
